    VirtualDubMod and DivX

I was following DivXLand instructions for compressing a 800 MB AVI to 700 MB in order to fit in a normal CD.

Downloaded VirtualDubMod and DivX Total Pack

    Opened AVI file in VDM
    Selected Video Full Processing Mode
    Selected Compression

Then, I was suppoused to select DivX or Xvid but I can´s see those codecs in VirtualDubMod.

    What am I missing?

Try uninstalling and reinstalling DivX. What is this DivX Total Pack?

      Ok, thanks.

Total pack was a pack of codecs recommended in a forum.
      Seems that does not work.
I got DivX from original site and everything works fine.

That is exactly what I had thought. Glad it worked out.

          Now a different problem.

          DivX Bitrate Calculator and size...

I have a mpeg video file sized 800MB
          Details from VirtualDub are 352x288 25FPS at 788 bitrate (96 kb/s)
          174487 FPS, timed 1.56:19.

Audio seems to be 128 bits L II 44 Khz, 267184 frames and sized 109055k

Used DivXLand bitrate calculator to find out how to size it to 700MB.

I set up sound to mp3 L 3 128 bits 44 khz as I guess this would keep sound quality almost the same but a bit compressed in size.

And used DivX and Xvid codec to compress video and save file as avi

DivXLand bitrate calculator tells me that bitrate should be set to 750, but after processing file, file is 450MB instead of 700.

Using VirtualDub as well as Stoik video converter, same result.

          What am I doing wrong?

I don't know about DivXLand bitrate calculator. Why don't you use DivX's own calculator?
