    DVD won't play

Just bought Cyberlink Power Director and I'm unimpressed, glad it was only $80... Anyway, I created a short movie that consisted of video (.avi) and photos (.jpg) and burned it to a DVD. The movie plays on my home theater system, but won't play on an older DVD player. Is it because the video files I brought into the movie are .avi and my older player doesn't like the encoding??? Or is it that the DVD format just isn't supported? If the latter, anyone have any suggestions for DVD Creation Software that works better with older DVD players?

Also make sure that your older player will accept the format of the DVD's you are using...not all players will accept both + and - R formats, especially the older ones.
