A good MPEG2 to MPEG1 converter

Ahem the thing is my Adobe Premiere Elments 4.0 is having some issues with MPEG2 files, however it work perfectly fine with MPEG1 files.

Thus I need to know where to download a good converter that even though is a time trial version I am to convert my existing video files into the other format (future video files will be in MPEG1).

So far I found watermarks and 50% conversions, which is of course unacceptable.

mpeg 1 was first, it's like the vhs of video, cruddy crap

mpeg 2 is standard dvd quality/size

mpeg4 is more advanced, more compressed, but not necessarily more quality

No I meant for me I will record my future videos in MPEG1.

But for now I need a good converter.

I use Procoder, but it's pricey. Try SUPER.

If you are looking for free software, try ZamZar.com. I love it because you can convert many types of files online so you never have to download anything except your converted file. They do take a few hours to email you the file but it works great!
