A question about time/megs

I am working as a mentor with a group of kids who are producing a short 3 minute video for a competition. They gave a requirement that it not exceed 5 megs. Is that possible or was it maybe a typo?

Depends what format the video is in. If in standard DVD format (MPEG2 encoding), you haven't got a hope. But if you use MPEG 4 or H264, you might get there, depending on the bitrate and resolution chosen.

Thanks! I had no clue, I will just have to convert it to mp4. We are doing something in black and white so maybe that will help too.

Yes, it will. You can safely set the bitrate quite a bit lower for B&W. Just encode a segment and see how it looks.

I don't have any experience and I just copied movie and it's huge.
