Just to check that your problems are not caused by the file you downloaded, try unzipping the test.zip file I have attached and play test.avi, it contains 11 seconds of black screen, encoded with divx5.0.2

Try uninstalling the divx5.0.2 codec and use the nimo codecpack to install the divx5.0.1 codec http://nimo.everwicked.com/

I can't open the Decoder Configuration so attached is a screengrab of the error. The test.avi I downloaded wouldn't work so attached again is a screengrab of the error. After this post I will uninstall DIVX5.0.2 and install the nimo codecpack.
