    Nandub v1.0rc2?

I have a TS-PDIVX avi file that gives audio but no video through a 3.11 alpha codec on my Win98 media player. A properties - details - check of this file indicates it's made with Nandub v1.0rc2 software. Nowhere have I found this codec, or another codec, that provides video for this file. However, I haven't tried the Divx 5.x codec. I refuse because of its spyware.

So, does anyone know of a playback codec, or other method, to provide video for this file?

Sincerest thanks in advance for what is (probably) a very newbie question. Cheers.

If it was truly made using nandub, having the 3.11a codec should have been enough. To be sure, open the video in either Virtualdub or nandub and check its file information. Post it here.

nandub can use two different codecs: MS V2 and divx 3.11

thus you might need MS V2.

tsunamis filterpack contains the ms codecs and can be downloaded from my page.

        Re:Nandub v1.0rc2

        Enchanter,

I installed VirtualDub 1.4.10 (build 13870/release) and tried to open the file in question. Immeadiately I received the following error message: Couldn't locate decompressor for format 'DX50' (unknown).

VirtualDub requires a video for Windows (VFW) compatible codec to decompress video. Directshow codecs, such as those used by Windows Media Player, are not suitable.

        Any ideas Enchanter?

        UncasMS,

I installed your Tsunamis filterpack 3.9.3 and selected "typical" installation. During the installation I received the following error message: Following files did not self register: 1) C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\DVobSub.ax

I clicked ok to continue the installation anyway but the problem still remains.

        Am I doing something wrong?

This indicates that you need DivX 5, NOT DivX 3.11a. Whoever had this file you downloaded from wrongly assumed that it was encoded with nandub. Install DivX 5, and you should be set right there.

            DIVX 5

            Thanks Enchanter,

I was afraid of that. Is it possible to download JUST the Divx 5 codec without the bundled player and spyware? If so, can you refer me to a link?

I don't have DivX 5 installed in my system, but from what I've experienced, the codec installation includes the DivX player along. I suggest that you install DivX 5 using the codec packs (Tsunami or Nimo) and leave out the DivX player. That may do the trick.

here is the divx5 codec only

this is, however, for playback only!

                  Divx 5 codec only

                  Thank you UncasMS,

I'll perform the steps listed in the Readme.eng.txt file when I have a little more free time. Cheers.
