Playing movies.

Hi there. I am a newbie so please bear with me. I have recently tried to play a downloaded movie, copied to cd as an AVI, on a multi-region dvd player that supports Cd-R's etc. Unfortunately I received an error message on screen.

The movie though plays fine on my work PC as I downloaded divx 5.

How do I go about making the cd-r or any subsequent movies, play on a dvd player.

First you can't play an avi on a standalone dvd player. You must convert the avi to either a vcd or svcd. You player should support the vcd format but you may need to check and see if it supports the svcd format (higher quality). You can use the program called dvd2svcd to convert it. Even though it is called DVD2svcd it will accept avi input.
