I have used KaZaa and WinMX in the past. both good progs but how fast you can get them depends on how fast others give them to you.

This really is the newbie forum heh. Kazaa/WinMX SUCK. There the last resort way to get new movies .... Movies originate via IRC (a lot more to it than that but basically yes). www.mirc.com for it .... confusing program, takes months and months to learn it ... but when you do you'll learn other ways of getting movies via FTP etc. MUCH better ways ... oh also, if you are downloading off someone who is dialup. The max send speeds for dialup is usually 4kb/s ... which means to download a full length movies if it's say, 700megs, It will take you many days ... If you are downloading off a EDU connection, they can be in the megabytes range ( if your connection for downloading is faster )

It doesn't take months to learn using mIRC! Just ask someone who knows to teach you the basics of using it and you're set to go. Once you get used to downloading from mIRC, I doubt you'd be looking elsewhere, especially if you have fast connection.

sigh .... IRC is no way to get any files heh LOL. Maybe if you've got xdcc's like criten then it's okay to get it from IRC. But If you really wanna be able to get releases fast and in good quality instead of a friggin SMR or vV divx rip of the movie, then you need to get yourself on some decent FTP sites ...

I haven't found a killer app. I use a combination of p2p programs. They all have strenghts and weaknesses. None are perfect but when used in combination they can be quite useful.

I use direct connect. It has a pretty wide selection. The problem is you need a certain amount of data to share to get in first. It can range from nothing in the nice people rooms to 40GB for the hardcore sharers.

Direct Connect can be found at www.neo-modus.com
Basically the way it works is that you connect to certain hubs filled with users. Some hubs are more welcoming then others because of the sharing limits they have. As soon as you connect to a hub you see a list of users in the hub in which you can access and download any files they have. There is a search engine too and a chat line to others in the hub. Apparently at peak times, Direct Connect has over 3000 terabytes of stuff to download. The hubs are monitored by the way so if you have viruses or kiddie-porn or other bad stuff you will get booted most of the time. You will also get booted if you constantly cut people off while they are downloading. Basically let people download from you and you can have whatever you want.

It's perfectly safe. They can only access what you tell the program to let them like most p2p programs. I suggest creating a specific folder for stuff you want to share to avoid any confusion.

Here is what i have found is the best. Go to www.kazaa.com and get that. Then go to www.sharereactor.com and click on the [L] next to dvd's. Sharereactor uses e-donkey which takes forever to get a movie so don't get e-donkey, but go and find the movie you want. Then copy the link for the movie word for word and place it in kazaa. For some reason, I don't know why, it will find movies that it wouldn't list before. NO matter how hard you search it might not find the movie but if you type that exact link in it usually will. and if it is on the sharereactor website they are usually grade A+ quality also.
