High Quality, Deep Analysis and burn engine

I have always used Shrink to encode and have never did any deep analysis, never any problems with the picture as far as i can tell, process would take me about 4-9 minutes per flick.

Just started using Recode and i can encode w/o checking the "high quality" or deep analysis tabs in the same time, so i decided to check both options to improve quality and i takes my pc about 25 minutes for full movie with both options checked. The time really doesn't bother me at all, just wondering what the difference is? Is there a major difference in quality, or is it so minor that an untrained eye couldn't tell the difference?

Also, i have always burned with nero express for all my .vob files and sometimes with DVDD on an .iso, but have read alot of post throughout various forums saying Nero burning rom sucks and you should convert your .vob to .iso and burn with DVDD. Since i have never noticed any issues, can someone enlighten me on the problem with the Neor burning rom.

    Thanks

A deep analysis will allocate compression more accurately. When you Open your movie for the first time it will perform a Quick Analysis which is a Deep Analysis' baby brother.

If you are using high compression for the sake of the small amouth of time a Deep Analysis takes I would advise it.

The "High Quality" tab is similar to DVD Shrink's AEC Sharp (default) quality setting. Again advisable if your are compressing a lot.

However, at the end of the day it's all down to personal preference. Although you may see visual impairments if watching your Backup with No Deep Analysis/High Quality on different viewing equipment.

With regards to burning I always burn with DVD Decrypter although have had success using Nero, again, personal preference.
Take a read through the Nero Vs DVD Decrypter FAQ here

Then we are using the same burning procedure. No problems over here burning at 16x with that program. If you have a bad setup (media, DMA, old versions) no burning program can work with those conditions.

"have read alot of post throughout various forums saying Nero burning rom sucks and you should convert your .vob to .iso and burn with DVDD."

You'll find that a great many of such posts are all made by the same few people. Some people tend to be overzealous in their support of one program and their denigration of other programs.

"Since i have never noticed any issues, can someone enlighten me on the problem with the Neor burning rom."

I have used NERO exclusively for my burning needs (Both CD and DVD) for several years and several thousand burns - without any problems that were caused by NERO...

I have used Nero for many years (CD and DVD like setarip) and haven't had any problems.

I did skip the early v6.0.0.0 versions of Nero as they were problematic. Those problems are not around with the latest Nero 6.6 versions.

I like to burn with Nero Express as I like the interface.

Thanks everyone, and i guess the old saying if it ain't broke then don't try to fix it applies for me as well.

I haven't had a single coaster with my TYG02 w PX716 at 8x with Nero burning rom in about 600+ burns.

Just courious why many have stated that DVDD is a better suited burning engine. I've used it and it works great, but all my files on HDD are in video_ts folders and doesn't make since to convert them , just for the sake of it.
