Trying to burn a dual layer for the 1st time

I used DVDD and now trying to burn with Nero 6 Ultra. Gives me an error that says "burn process failed at 2.4x" without explanation. So I don't know why it's not working. Here is the log file. Can someone help please?

    G'day Huskerfan

That drive is not known as a real good one and neither is your media the best. Get Verbatim DL media is my recommendation. It's expensive but good.

Why is Recode being used - it jst introduces an unneeded process? The way to copy a DL disk is simple - see here.

Read and implement the Golden Rules of Burning.

You should only use genuine Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden media. Many thanks to www.pcx.com.au for their supply and great service.

Well, it's the drive that came with my pc.... And I've been pretty happy shrinking my backups for several years and realized the prices have come down on the DL media so I thought I would give it a shot. I tried DVDD and got a coaster but the files might have been buggered with. (long story) Thanks for the link. I'll try that version next time. I have read your Golden Rules of Burning before, but it was a nice refresher/reminder. I did end up updating my firmware on my drive thanks to rereading.

O.K. I tried with DVDD and now I get an I/O error. Am I just SOL with this drive?

You got an IO error on the read cycle of the process or the write?

No, the read cycle gave me a nice .iso file a little over 7 gig. Went to write it and it got to 51% and gave me the I/O error. Another $2.00 coaster

Blutach, You're gonna fall out of your chair after I tell you this. So I've got three blank coasters laying around that I've tried with various programs and I go to stick one of them in to see if it is still good or not and I realize that the complete backup is recorded on it. And everything is intact. The worst part is that I can't remember which program worked for this one! I was also messing around with pcgedit earlier today.... Man, I am such a novice at this stuff!!!

You can always figure out what wrote it. Stick it into DVD Decrypter and start a decrypt. See what it says for Source media implementation. Mkisofs would mean PgcEdit.

                  Anyways

Blutach, Here is a log that came from a burned double layer disc that I decrypted with DVDD. Still says Spruce Technologies. This one is 2 layers and works flawlessly. Wish I knew how I did it!!!!! I tried one where I decrypted with DVDD and burned with imgburn but the copy freezes right about where the layer break would be. So that didn't work.

Just for anyone else reading this I finally got it to work. I decrypted to my hard drive with DVDD -- made the iso image with pgcedit -- then burned with Imgburn. Everything seems to work fine!!!! Tried read/write with DVDD, didn't work. Tried read with DVDD and burn with Imgburn. Didn't work. Finally, got the above to work.
