Nero express 3 - DVD record - Sound Lagg - please help

I'm relatively new to the DVD burning world - I've been using nero express 3 to burn avi files to a DVD for use on my home DVD player. Unfortunately I'm experiencing sound lagg problems. Initially the recording starts fine but after a short while the sound starts to slip, after about 10 to 15 mins of play back I'm left with a 3 second sound lagg.

Anyone with any idea's or suggestions welcome.
