    Nero Recode "unexpected exception"

I'm attaching my Recode log in hopes someone might see something I can't. I've seen some answers given out here that makes me think we have some brilliance available on the subject. I've used Recode before with no probs until yesterday when trying to burn a backup. Had to go back to other progs in my arsenal to get it done, but as Recode is a "PAID FOR" program and not a freebie....I want what I paid for! Any help will be truly appreciated! I did notice that when I have the size set to 4300, the log shows it being set to almost 4466. Wouldn't think this is too close to the edge.

Have you tried to output the compilation to the hard disk first and then burn it. Just to rule out any burning related issues.

I have used a decrypter to get the video files onto my hard drive. I can import these files into Recode and watch them in the preview box. Unfortunately, they'll look like they're burning right up until the bitter end and Nero coughs up a "burn failed". I can dump these same files into Shrink and it burns perfectly. Whatever is causing Recode to fail is beyond my understanding. Previously, I could import the files, tell it to recode main movie to DVD and sit back and wait. No new programs, hardware added to cause this new problem. A reply figured I had Roxio crap leftover in the recesses of my computer, but if so, it's been there for a long time and has never caused a problem before. Maybe I'll drop back to my previous stable version of Nero to see if that helps. Thanks for the reply.

Hi Cynthia....I'm using Nero 7.5.7.0 now. This problem just happened in the last couple of days, so I don't know if something "popped" somewhere or what. I've had the current Nero installed since it came out and only had a minor glitch in Wave Editor until now. I'm going to try a check in the morning of your earlier suggestion to rule out a burner problem or a compression fault within Nero Recode. I might even try a fresh install to see if that might help if the other doesn't work out. Appreciate the help.....

Did that.... and unchecked Nero Burn at Once function as suggested on another forum. Have done three movies using Recode with NO problems so far . Looks like Recode doesn't like to do BAO on decrypted movies. I like Recode as it is much faster than Shrink even if I'm not using Burn at Once.
Thanks everyone for the help....seems to have gotten it!

I had the same problem too, it just happened since yesterday. I try to use DVD Shrink instead of Nero Recode and it still has the same problem.

I thought I don't have enough memmory so I double the memory but still can't back up my DVD.

Could you post a log of some sort so folks can see where the problem might be? Have you changed brands of discs, changed the burning speed? Right now we're pretty well in the dark as to what the solution might be.

Well in the history log it doesn't say anything about the problem. Maybe when I go home, I'll see if I have the problem show in the history log.

Here how the screen pop up when I try to import the DVD

First of all I see you're using CMC MAGS.....worst possible disc to use - sold under many brand names. Try using a Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden if you can find them.
Try burning at 4X. speed. Some folks use no faster even though you can burn much faster. Unless you use Nero InCD GET RID OF IT! It is a horrible POS that causes many problems. Drivers\CDRALW2K.SYS is a Roxio driver. If you do have Roxio installed it will cause problems with Nero. If you uninstalled it, run the Roxio Zapper in the previous posts to get rid of it. There are several useless drivers in the log that are probably causing the problems. Let us know if this helps.

As I was writing my reply you posted another message and I wasn't aware of it. The log must be of the successful burn. Are you asking Recode to burn the file again after the burn that turned out O.K. or is it a new file you're importing when you get the message? The other suggestions above are still valid for the original burn, and I also notice your fit to target box is set to DVD-5. Most folks suggest setting a custom size of 4300 - 4400 to make sure not to burn too close to the edge. This still won't solve your problem with Recode, but might get you a better burn. I know people have problems burning the same video files twice ( making duplicate copies). Nero is really delicate and the least little thing will bugger up the thing. I'll do some more digging and see what I can find and maybe some other brighter mind will chime in to help.

No I didn't ask it burn again, I was burning a new files. And that's all it pop up. I mean I've tried 2 different movies after the 1st sucessful one. One I could open the movie, then when it recode around 40% that thing pop up. The other, I could not even import the movie.

I am gonna try your solutions at home tonight and see if it works. I don't have roxio at home. At work I can install but can't remove.

                              Thank you for your helps
