Okay I've tried a lot of tools to encode dvd's. I rip with SmartRipper using stream processing, then decode the ac3 using besweet. For video I go into dvd2avi and resave/recreate the .d2v file so the vfapi converter program will read it. I do the conversion, open it in VirtualDub and encode.
That works great, but it encodes at about 10-16fps in VirtualDub cause I think somewhere along the way it's forcing it to convert it to RGB. Is there anyway to keep it from doing that, any other tools?
Reason I'm using VirtualDub: I'm very familiar with it, and nothing else I found did the conversion right. I tried GordianKnot, i just plain hate that (I hate frontends in general), DVD2AVI, xmpeg, and flaskmpeg. Nothing except VirtualDub will do the framerate, aspect ratio, and/or deinterlacing correctly/at all.
I'd prefer to continue using VirtualDub, and it works, I have two movies encoded beutifuly, it's just so painfuly slow. Help Please!
