Is DivX codec 3.11a free?

Just wondering if there are any fees on it, so can anyone tell me if it is free or if it cost money, thanks

For personal use, it's pretty much considered free. However, it is not the same case if you plan on using it for business. What are you planning to use the codec for?

Divx 5 and ffdshow can also be used to playback divx 3.11 content.

There is nothing questionable about it. It IS an illegal hack of MS codec. However, for the purpose of personal viewing on computer, it is nothing to be concerned with (I've had it installed in my system for about two years, and so do many others).
