    ACE Mega CoDecS Pack Uninstall problems

    After uninstalling ACE Mega CoDecS Pack 5.00 it actually managed to remove all (not just the one's it installed, but every single video codec on my computer). So now I am left with the trouble of finding even the simplest codecs, like an MP3 codec for Windows media player.

    QUESTION:
    - Does anyone happen to know where one could find these basic codecs without having to install XP again?

    RECOMMENDATION:
    - Do not install ACE Mega CoDecS Pack, even though you might be able to view some obscurly coded videos, it will mess up your system and play your "normal" DivX videos really really poorly on Windows Media Player.

    You can download and install the DivX v.3.11alpha codec. When you install the codec, it will additionally automatically install the Radium (Fraunhoefer) .MP3 audio codec.

    Let us know of your success ;>}

      Restoring codecs after uninstalling ACE Mega CoDecS Pack

      I have restored most of my codecs now, but I didn't install the 3.11 Alpha. I did install v5, which only fixed the video though. So I installed Windows Media Player 9, that didn't do the trick either. But then, by coincidence, I was installing both Movie Maker 2 and Windows Media Encoder (Recommended, if you have an SPV mobile phone and want to play your own videos on it, but that's another story...) and either must have had the MP3 codec on, because now its working like it has never worked before. (And I can watch Michael Jackson's Smooth Criminal on my phone, but again, that's another story...)

      CONCLUSION:
      If something isn't working, install a set of random programs and hope the problem will go away by its self.
