VirtualDub + DivX 5 Codec Problem

I just captured a movie from tv, and I encoded directly into DivX 5, which works perfectly, normally.
Now I wanted to cut out the commercial breaks and opened the file with Virtualdub, when I try to skip forward or play the movie inside VirtualDub the following message shows up in the status bar: "Error fetching frame XX: VideoSourceAVI error: unspecified error (-100)"

and there's no picture and so i cant do anything.

    How can I fix that?

    - how big is that file (>2gb?)

    - how many keyframes does it have?

As an experiment, try the following:

              Load the file into VirtualDub
Set BOTH "Video" and "Audio" to "Direct Stream Copy"
              Save with a new filename

And, if that doesn't do it:

              Restart VirtualDub
From the "File" dropdown menu, select "Open Video File"
Put a checkmark next to "Popup extended Open options"
Select your file to be loaded
Put a checkmark next to "Re-derive keyframe flags"
              Click on "OK"
Set BOTH "Video" and "Audio" to "Direct Stream Copy"
              Save with a new filename

Ok, the first thing you said was something I already did yesterday but that unfortuanely doesnt help.
that extended open dialog option brings me a new error message: VideoSourceAVI [ICDecompress] error: unspecified error (-100).

                That sux!

                  maybe you're mssing a codec

load the file into gspot 2.1 and post the screenshot!

or install tsunamis filterpack 396 via CUSTOM routine and all presets (396 can be found on my page - upper anigif).

Ok the screenshot should be down there.

And the tsunami filter pack didnt help me. I can still play it in any play but virtualdub just fcuks it up!

                    Ich werd noch verrückt!

                      Ha! I found the solution:

I changed the fourCC codec information from DX50 to dx50 and it works perfectly, thanks for your support anyway.
