YUY2 in virtualdub

1. I am trying to capture from my VHS (Pal) in DivX with VirtualDub, When I use the YUY2 color format - I get the movie upsidedown!
why is that? What do I do to solve the problem?

2. where do I get a codec to compress the audio of the movie in to mp3? What codecs do I need?

the incorrect playback of your file might in fact be a PLAYBACK problem and might not have anything to do with the capture process at all.

as for mp3 ENCODING: install a codec like radium or lame for mp3:
