    bitrate calc

    Hello.

    if any1 can help plz.

I've been triyin to use a bitrate calculator to encode my movies, and the last one i tried to encode I follow the bitrate calculated by adv. bitarate calc! 1.95 and for the time 95 min. the bitrate suggested was 878 kbps for 700 mb, but the final avi size was 387... i tried many others calcs but they're all the same.

    What to do?????

    thank you.

      still the same

      Thank you for the reply.

i visited the site and for 1h35m38s of movie on divx on 1cd of 700mb the bitrate calculated for the movie d-tox is 864kbps and is still giving me less than 400mb of divx movie.

just a moments ago I encoded the file with 3000kbps and now i have a 428mb.

            proggies

            I'm using DVDx 2.0 y Divx 5.0pro

for the 1h35m38s of movie I finnaly encoded with 3000kbps for a 500mb avi.

My Q is why????? the bitrate calculator gives me 878kbps? for a 700mb CD, why that big big difference??

do you know what I mean?.

            Thank you very much.

There is no way to get such a good bitrate on a 90min+ movie yet have such a small file size.

Have you tried reinstalling the codec as gs0666 suggested?

                thank you for the reply.

yes i did, i reinstall the codec and still the same...

i had to increase by myself the bitrate to reach the 700mb avi.

is that a problem of the bitrate calculator(s)??

                thank you all.

                thank you

"is that a problem of the bitrate calculator"

The bitrate calc only calculates the approx bitrate for the movie.
It will not affect the encoding, so this is basically a codec problem

Hi i don't know if you have solved this problem yet but i thought i would reply anyway...

I use dvdx aswell and i think i might know what the problem might be when you click the "Out" button and the options come up are you clicking the "Settings" button undet the "Volume Don't exceed" button?

then once that is open you click the "Enter Bitrate" button, i can tell you now this is JUST A CALCULATOR it is not the actual bitrate it will encode the movie at it is just giving you a rough estimate as to how big each chapter of the dvd is.

What you have to do is create a "volume" by clicking all the chapters and clicking the "create volume" button then click the "close" button.

Once out of that click the "Video Codec" button and select the divx codec you have installed then on the left click "Configure..." and enter the bitrate you have calculated in there and click "OK" and click "OK" again then change whatever else you want to change and click "apply" then encode ur movie and it should be about right i have found that most calcs are off by 15-20mb

Let me know if this helps

                      good luck
