    Help with virtualDub

    hello
I am having trouble with virtualdub

i am trying to cut the production ads off the begining of a move like forinstance "20th Century Fox" when i select that part in vdub and delete it then save the avi again it cuts most of it but leaves about 10 second there.

i have tried reloading it into vdub and cutting off that 10seconds or so and it doesn't do it

    any ideas?
    thanks in advance

set the mark in "10 seconds" into the original file and then set the mark out at the end. then wait 5 minutes, have a cinnamon roll and check it out.

does it play 10 seconds worth, or the movie untouched?

Set "Selection Start" to the beginning of the file
Move to the keyframe immediately after the part you wish to delete
            Set "Selection End"
            Select "Delete frames"
Set BOTH "Video" and "Audio" to "Direct Stream Copy"
            Save with a new filename

i have tried it with three different movies and the same thing happens over and over

are there any other free tools that can do this like vdub does?

                Hi,
Your problem here is keyframes as Setarip pointed out.
Any clip MUST begin at a keyframe so one must take this into consideration when cutting. You could use AviUtl to force a frame to a keyframe. Can be downloaded on the software page.
So what you do is, decide where you want your clip to begin, make it a keyframe and delete all other frames that proceed it. I've posted a screenshot.
                Good luck.

I think the one on the DivX Digest software page is Japanese only?

thanks guys that aviutl worked a charm
one more question can i use this same program to get rid of the ed credits of a movie if so how would i do it?

Because when i create a key frame like The Edge said then i save it it automatically takes everything b4 the keyframe out while saving

Thanks The edge and you other guys

For end credits it's easier again. Because your cutting AFTER a keyframe (hence, there is a keyframe at the start) then VirtualDub/AviUtl will have no problems.
Just select the begining credit frame and the end credit frame, cut them out and resave AVI with directstreamcopy.

ok i tried it with another movie and the create key frame thing didn't work this time

and vdub did the same thing it left a bit

is there any tutorials about using both these programs together?

                              Thanks again
