BTW if you want a product from Microsoft that doesn't suck wait for the day they make vacuum cleaners
You got that one right. Many of their programs I do not care for besides Win XP Professional and Win 2000 besides that Windows 2000 will not play ANY of the games I own

I can understand that not being able to uninstall a product is annoying.
Anyways, the reason why deleting dlls doesnt and SHOULDN'T work is because windows' dllcache. Is a dll removed, it is copied over from the sys/dllcache dir. If you want to remove it, remove it there too.
If any DAU (german duemmster anzunehmender user -> most stupid user to be expected) could delete files (SHARED ONES MAYBE!) the system's stability would be compromised dramatically: Process may still try to access dlls already removed...

          You can uninstall WMP9

          Start|Run this:
          RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection C:\WINDOWS\INF\wmp.inf,Uninstall

should all be on one line.

              "bar the lack of ntfs"

It's not like NTFS is a dire requirement. I am still using FAT32 with my WinXP systems and am completely happy with its flexibility and performance.

Between upgrading and not upgrading from Win98 to the more stable NT-based OS, I would go for WinXP SP1 (or at the least, Win2K SP2) for many many reasons.

              Regards.
