Which software for getting chapter info?

    Hello,

Does anyone know which program can get the chapter info out of the movie, so that I can put chapter selection to my MicroDVD movie?

I have already ripped the .vob files from the DVD disc with CladDVD and they're now on HD.

I tried SmartRipper but couldn't figure out if I can get the list of chapters only. And the fact that the instructions were in German didn't help either

Or do I have to manually go through the cpahters with dvd player and write down the chapter starting times?

    Thanks!

Hey, thats all I need, if only I knew how to get it

What I don't understand is how do I "select" the whole movie for ripping so that it only creates the text file:

The "Start" button appears only when I select the movie, but then it shows that required disk space is about 5 gigabytes (which I dont have since the vobs are already on the HD). And if I unselect the movie, required disk space goes to 0 but the "Start" button disappears also.
Hope you understand what I mean.

I meant the program is in English, but it doesn't come with any help files or anything. On the program's home page there's some instructions (I guess?) with screenshots and some text between them but they're all in German .

PS: the example you gave, is it by any chance the chapter list for "Gone in sixty seconds"? That would save me a lot of headscrathing...

        Hmmmmm....
I think there is an easiest way to do that.
There is a very simple and easy to use program called
        ChapterXtractor.
I think you can find it in the software pages of divx-digest.
With that you just open the ifo file of your movie and it gets all the chapters (and some other info also).
You copy and paste them in your microdvd ini.
        Very easy
....come to take a trip with me in Future World.

          hi tomi

actually i doubt that SMARTRIPPER will be able to write down these files WITHOUT ripping the data (since i think the info file will not be genereated without the ripping-process)

nonetheless i sent a mail to TRON asking him about this and maybe there is (or will be *g*) a way in SR now/soon.

and sorry, NO it wasnt gone in 60 seconds.

but maybe SOMEONE HERE has chance to rip the date to provide that small file or even better: the tool mentioned above (or any other one) will do the job.

          good luck

            Thanks guys for your help.

I eventually went the "hard way" last night and wrote down the chapter times manually using dvd player. It took a while

Now I downloaded chapterXtractor from divx digest (I don't understand why I haven't found that myself) and it works perfectly. Great tool!

            Thanks again,

            -Tomi

              ok

i got a mail from TRON and he said that smartripper is NOT able to do so, but maybe IfoEdit was.

but you seem to have found a decent way by now
