VirtualDubMod muxing to matroska result in unplayeble file

Using the latest VirtualDubMod release (1.5.4.1)
    Saving to matroska (mkv) container
Resulting file crashes Media Player Classic(XP), mplayer2 just hangs, the same with core media player
The problem is not the player (as mkv files created with older versions of VirtualDubMod) still play fine)
Trying to play the mvk file also causes horrible memory leaks/general system slow-down.

    Anyone has this problem?

Well, even Windows Media Player can handle matroska (in conjunction with VobSub though); BSPlayer too - albeit a little slow in opening matroska files.
Core Media player is released by the same team that develops matroska, so support should be good, but I don't like the interface a lot.
I use MediaPlayer Classic; it seems the best choice for mkv, regarding speed/performance at least.
        alles gute..

You sure did update to the latest splitter filter 1.0.1.8 ?

Get it from Gabest's Guliverkli homepage .... we changed the lacing sheme recently to save some overhead, and this is already supported in latest VirtualdubMod.

But these files only play with the latest splitter, not with elder versions. Old files are still 100% valid matroska files, dont worry ....
Support the future of audio and video encoding, matroska as open standard container format and Gstreamer as open source, x-platform multimedia platform - Contact us on Corecodec, the concentric circles of audio and video, or on IRC.CORECODEC.COM #matroska ; for best viewing matroska file use The Core Media Player ( TCMP )
