How Long Converting?

Hi Everyone
Probably asking a repeated question, but can't find answer.

Converting AVI to DVD what is the normal time taken to convert for say a 1.45hr movie.?
Does the processor make any difference,? and is there anything you can do to speed the convertion process.
I have a 1.7GHz Celeron, (thinking about going up to P4 3.0GHZ)and it is taking about 5hrs+ is this normal using TMPGenc.

The same simple rule as for computer games...

MHz = FPS = Speed

with ur system yes thats pretty normal, going towards 3 gig mark will be good in future.
