Converting ac3 to mp3

Not sure if this is an appropriate place for this question, but...

I want to make two copies of my divx files, one with the ac3 multiplexed in, and one with mp3. Can anyone recommend a good technique for doing this? I've already compressed my video into avi and ripped my ac3 audio out, just need to compress my audio.

you can extract audio to wav (from dvd) and after this you can change it to mp3 with audiocatalyst or goldwave or any program!
You must have lots of space on harddisk
