    Tracking WMP crash involving mplvw7.dll

I am tracking an unusual error that has started popping up on my system.

This normally occurs with WMP 10 but has also happened with Windows Explorer.

During normal playback of video files when a clip segment end has been reached and before switching to the next clip the XP error message appears. Checking details returns this:

Faulting application wmplayer.exe, version 10.0.0.3646, faulting module mplvw7.dll, version 1.0.0.3, fault address 0x0001c154.

This started shortly after installing Ace Mega Codec 6.01 Pro, Media Player Classic (0.8.1) from vlc AND DivXPro 5.21, so I'm not sure who the culprit is. Uninstalling everything is going to be a major pain so before I resort to Scortched Earth tactics I'm searching for a work-around.

    Some background info:
the dll listed above is part of WMP but is mfgd by a company called Ligos. Very little information about this dll is available and nobody has anything in their KB's that addresses that file.

A google search turns up some stuff, but the error reported is different.

I located a known issue with DivX and XP SP2 and have tried the fix but it did not cure the problem.

Has anyone got any ideas about what may be done to fix this? Or even find some reliable information? The error is not system crashing, just annoying as hell. I would speculate to place the blame on the Ace pack but I can't read Hungarian so their main website is of no help.

Again, the crash is not critical but I would like to see it gone. If anyone has any ideas about how I might pinpoint the source without uninstalling and burning codecs out of my system, I would welcome the input.

    Thanks to All
    dnamechanic

Lastly, some hardware info if it helps:
    P4 2.8G 800M FSB
    1 Gb PC3200 RAM
Nvidia FX5900 512mb Video (running latest drivers from Nvidia)
Princeton LCD monitor (video is in digital mode)
Microsoft DSS 80 Sound on USB
XP Pro SP2 updated to current releases.

          mplvw7.dll error

It's been a few months since I've last authored a DVD , but my PC suddenly cannot find "mplvw7.dll". I've uninstalled and reinstalled applications that I believed were causing this problem but to no avail. Does anyone have an ideal on resolving this? Thanks in advance.

WMP & VideoReDo crash involving mlvw7.dll

In the last two days, I have been afflicted with the same problem as dnamechanic, with WMP and VideoReDo and VRD Plus.

I don't have the Ace Mega Codec. In fact I don't know exactly which codecs I do have-different ones show up on the lists in different programs.

I have several video capture/edit/burn programs like Ulead VideoStudio 9, Pinnacle Studio 9.4.2, VideoReDo (my favourite editor), AVS Video Converter, Im TOO MPEG Encoder, etc.

These were acquired in the search for something that would convert and edit the MPEG4 videos produced by my Olympus C770.

The last several weeks, I have been successfully capturing a lot of my old VHS tapes and saving them to DVDs as digital files (rendering takes too long).

In the last two weeks I have been using Ulead VideoStudio 9 to capture and continuing to use VideReDo Plus to edit with no problems-until two days ago.

The problem started after I had applied a 'QuickStream Fix', suggested by VideoReDo Plus, to a file with an extension of .vcr that I had changed to .mpg. That file played just fine with WMP but the 'fixed' file caused WMP to generate an error message. VideoReDo (and Plus) now just shut down when I try to 'Open Video', i.e. they crash as they are reading the directory with my video files. mplvw7.dll has been mentioned in the occasional cases when an error message is generated by VideoReDo.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling VRD and going to a Restore point -no luck yet.

Thanks for any help with this.
