FlaskMPEG crashes during converting

I'm using FlaskMPEG 0.6 on an AMD Athlon running Windows XP Pro to convert MPEG2-files to DivX. However, halfway the process the program crashes.
When I try again, it crashes again but at another percentage of the process. But once there were no problems as it completed the converting.

I tried Flask 0.594 as well as the AMD optimized version, but those were no better.
I even tried Vidomi, but that one crashed as well

Has anyone a solution for this problem? Maybe some better converting program or anything??

Thanks for your help.

Sounds like plain old overheating or not enough under powered PSU more than a fault with Flask.

One thing to do is restart your computer before you encode, as this will make sure the system has just got Flask to worry about.

Plus don't use the 100% CPU option.

I doubt overheating, 'cause my system is running day and night on full CPU-usage, without any problem (SETI@Home).

As suggested I tried a conversion right after a reboot, without starting any other tools, so the system should be "clean" during the process. But no result... FlaksXMPEG crashed at about 32%

It's priority is set to normal, as usual.

Any other suggestions, please????

Have you tried FlaskMpeg XiS 3.0e Expert Edition 2nd strike?
I have used it without fail and is the only Flask I have ever found to be 100% stable so far and like you I have pretty much tried them all.

FlaskMpeg XiS 3.0e Expert Edition 2nd strike is the version I'm using now, but that one crashed as well, several times

In the mean time I also tried it on my laptop (PIII, 1GHz, XP Pro), with different versions of FlaskMPEG as well, but with the same negative results.

Could it be a bug in the original MPEG2-files that I'm trying to convert? Some 'blip' or something? If so, any idea how to repair such files?

It could be, I've had corrupted vobs before, where the got buggered during the rip, but just re-ripped and all was ok.

Can you play the Mpeg2 without errors or stalls etc??

Playing ain't no problem at all, however Windows Media Player needs to get some codec from "the codec server" first...
But then it plays smoothly.

One other thing; Adobe Premiere 6.0 is unable to open any of the MPEG2-files. Shouldn't Premiere be able to read that standard videoformat??!

That is strange. You do turn SETI off when you encode

I did not know Media Player could play MPEG2 files without a DVD Player like PowerDVD or WinDVD installed.

That's something new I've learnt.

Have you checked out the many guides on this site:

If you install the right filters, you can get WMP to play mpeg-2 files. If you use Graphedit, this is the thing that will happen.

I used to have the same problem, it's gone now I don't know how I fixed it.

I keep getting Error messages when I EXIT flask! So bad that annoying box won't go away (ctrl-alt-del wont help) and I have to reset my pc.

ShakerMaker I used to get that with 4.12 and 5, but never get it with the XiS version (based on 0.6) I use. (see above)

If I use a std 0.6 and most other optimised versions this always happens on exit (i.e. Kernel32 error that won't go away).

Still not solved

So according to Shakermaker, I am not the only one with that problem of a crashing Flask-tool. But till now I haven't solved it.
Can't anyone give a hint in what might be the cause?

Should I need to convert the files under Linux? To do so, I first have to install Linux ...

Try encoding the video only (disabling audio processing) and see how it goes.

You guys ain't going to tell me that there is no solution for this problem, do you?!!
What can I do next? The encoding still doesn't work.
Please try and help some more.

Thanks.
