There is a lengthy howto over at Doom9 (editing registry keys, changing filenames and FourCC codes iirc), or I believe the Nimo Codec Pack v5.0-build5 does it for you...

dont c the point to install both really
divx5 plays all others, if u wanna encode with 4,12 then just leave that.

either way, move on, use divx5,01
