    Joining AVI's of different formats...

    Hi there,

Well after hours of encoding my first DivX movie, I ran into a problem where I wanted to join 2 .avi clips of different framerates, resolution, and compression. I configured each side to match that of the others, but found a/v sync problems, and just plain chaos... If anyone has suggestions, I would greatly appreciate some feedback... =)

    Thanks...

A more specific detail of the problem...

    Media1:
    - 720 x 480
    - 29 fps
    - 210kbs data rate
    - DivX 5.0.1 codec

    Media2:
    - 640 x 272
    - 25 fps
    - 69kbs data rate
    - DivX MPG4V3

Media1 is the media I want to alter to match that of Media2. When re-encoding Media1 to match Media2 using Flask, my output played audio, but did not show sound. I've been using VirtualDub 1_4_10.

      1 more question...

Has anyone had problems changing framerates to a desired floating point value like 29.97000? When I try to do so in VirtualDub, It always ends up like .00030 off... and that offset number isn't even consistent... ack...!

*Will not eat till the problem is solved...*

"When re-encoding Media1 to match Media2 using Flask"

You've initially described "Media 1" and "Media 2" as .AVI files. Flask doesn't accept .AVI files for input. So exactly what ARE you doing?

I am sorry, what I mean by re-encoding was that I started all over from my ripped .vob and .iso files. When encoding with flask, I set the output values to match that of Media2. When the encoding processed finished, I played my Media1.avi file and only received audio, no video... Is Flask capable of producing an output resolution that is of different values than it's input resolution?

Ok, thanks for quick reply setarip, but it seems I found a way to join my 2 .avi files. Turns out my audio bitrate was off by 1kb. Hehe... But I do have one question... Do all DivX encodes through Flask have to equal the resolution input it receives from the .vob files? i.e. - 720 x 480 .vob resolution MUST be set to 780 x 420 .avi resolution?

            Thanks again...

            Mike

No. Just look under the "Video" tab of "Global Project Options (Export Movie Settings). You'll see that you can set the horizontal and vertical resolutions to whatever you prefer...

The thing was, that when I altered the resolution while 'Flasking', my video got screwed up and I wasn't able to view it during playback...
