ASS file conversion

hi

does someone know witch programm uses the extion .ass? i know tht it is a subtitl file used in avi ogm or mkv containers. i need the program to set the subtitle on a video or a conversion tool to convert it too an srt file

To convert to srt, try Subtitle Workshop. You loose all effects, placements, etc. though. For hard encoding I would suggest textsub (vsfilter).

i tried textsub in Vitualdub but i don´t get the subtitle on the finished movie

Only thing that comes to mind which could cause that would be changing the video from fullprocessing once you had enabled the subs.

thanks it worked fine some of the vids have timing probs but i think its becuse i use to diferent bitrats wen i transcoded the audio

If all you want to do is hard encode subs, you don't need to re-encode the audio.

i know but virtual dub has probs with the acc format an that the smaller probelm re encoding the audio
