software to cut / split xvid files

I have tried virtual dub and nandub, both of which are supposed to work with xvid files, came back with the follwoing error message,

couldn't locate decompressor for format "xvid" (unknown)

I dont need anything fancy, just want to clip a few scenes out of a film, any help appreciated,

    TIA

Download and install Koepi's XviD 1.1.0 from the link below:

The above package contains a VfW codec and dshow decoder. By itself it doesn't really do anything.

        Problem:
couldn't locate decompressor for format "xvid" (unknown)

        Solution:
Install decompressor for format "xvid". No more error, so you can carry on with your splitting.

does it still give you the error when loading in virtualdub?

If it does, then XviD is not correctly installed.

Then again if the above isn't a typo, then the fourCC is wrong. Should be "XVID" not "xvid".
