I have been looking for software for over a week. I want to make sure it is the best I could get within my budget.

Being new to all this digital video thing, I have to learn fast since these little DV tapes can't be shared unless I have my cam with me.

Anyway, I picked up Sony Vegas yesterday. Anyone have any experience with it? So far I llike it because using Movie Makers was starting to bother me.

i use ulead video studio 10 plus. i think its spot on i did try sony vegas and was not keen on it av also tried pinnacle 9 which was ok and pinnacle 10 which was crap its ulead for me

I tested Ulead, I didn't like it. I had Pinniacle in my hand but after further investigation, I went with Sony. I needed to get more out of my software. Now I can't seem to figure out how to do transitions.

This is going to be a long weekend.

Yeah, the transitions are really hard to manage. Working on that.

Using Sony Vegas's transition is not too hard at all. For example, if you want to add any transition anywhere on the video clip, just drag the playhead where you want on the timeline, go to Edit and click Slit or type "s" to slit the video clip into 2 part, click and drag the second part to overlap the first part of the video., go to Transitions tab, and then drag and drop the choosen transition over the overlapping part. The duration of the transition is set by how long you drag the secod part of the video to overlap the first part

Sony Vegas is a great software. To use it efficiently, you have to spend time and a good source of materials to learn. I recommend you to read Sony Vegas Editing Workshop by Douglas Spotted Eagle if you want to learn how to use Vegas efficiently

Yeah, been reading the book. Learning some good stuff now. I would definitely refer this software.
