FAVC 1.05 released. I've done one avi=dvd with it so far and I didn't notice anything wrong. Seems to work fine in Vista. Has MediaInfo and HC updates & some fixes:

Very cool. Thanks admin. It's nice to see real multiprocessing. I really like the way FAVC splits up the task and attacks it in parallel. As he has it only .srt subs are supported, but just by clicking on the Don't Start Batch File you can add a line at the end of the title.avs scripts to embed idx/subs using the VobSub() function. They come out neat.

FAVC 1.07 has been released. Along with updated components the author
has apparantly added support for mpg/vob file input.

FAVC Will Not Initialize - Not Working

Hi folks,

OK now ... I am one of these guys that supported FAVC to death ... saying that I LOVED the fact that I can run it almost "Portabelish" ... you know entire software unpacks in it's own little neat folder.

BUT ... I just wanted to install it on my new laptop that has XP Pro SP2 ... and guess what I tried both FAVC1.07 and FAVC1.06 and when I click on FAVC.EXE ... I get ERROR MESSAGE ...

Saying: "FAVC failed to initialize properly 0xc0000135 error"

Darn what the heck does this mean!?!?

Has anyone seen this problem ... I never had this issue with all other versions.

Hi guys,

I think I might have figured out my own problem ...

I believe XP Pro SP2 it only comes with .NET framework Version 1 ... and FAVC needs Version 2 as a minimum.

I'll try my suspicion tomorrow since I have to run an errand ...

BTW, another Question ... I wonder since I am installing .NET ... what if I install the latest version .NET 3.5 ... will this mess up anything on XP PRO SP2?

I have .NET 3.5 on XP Pro SP 2 machine and it seems to be acting ok. I'm not sure if having .NET 3.x runs all .NET 2.0 stuff or not. Microsoft web site is probably the definitive source for that.

btw I just confirmed that FAVC 1.07 now uses DirectShowSource() to load input video(at least it did when I used a .wmv file as input.) Hopefully this means it can now handle a wider variety of input formats. I shall experiment as I find interestinger input to in put.

Yep, but there a MAJOR bug in FAVC 1.0.7, it's always re-encoding AC3 audio, even when set to not re-encode them.

I saw something about it on the doom9 forum. Is this only using aften? I usually use QuEnc to do the audio encoding and haven't noticed any problems. I haven't delved into just what files get put where but there is a switch "don't start batch file" on the last page of settings so you may edit the .avs scripts, then start the batch manually. That might work around it until Mr_Odwin updates the code.

hmmmmmmm I tried FAVC 1.07 on some h.264 input and the results were excellent!!
I used HC encoder with Best profile and QuEnc to encode the audio. In fact the output
looked better than the input!! The main "gotcha'" with FAVC seems to be bitrate spikes
so I usually set the max bitrate to 4000 kbit in the encoder settings. Once in a while I still get a zero .ifo file or incomplete output, but not often.

4000 is too low for VBR encoding. Set it to 8500.
