Disk Space problem using Nandub!

Hi,

I am not entierly new to encoding, but new to using Nandub. I found Nicks Guide, and followed it to the letter. Unfortunatly after some time of encoding it breaks off in the first pass with the message:

Not enough space to write additinal data.

At this point it has written a avi file on my HD is about 30 gig big (which filles up the avaliable free space on my HD). Wben I break it off then, this file is deleted. I think this is pretty strange, because I of course checked the option no avi output.

I am using Windows XP Professional and the newest Version of Nandub with DivX 4.11

If anyone has any Idea whats wrong or what I could do please repley.

Absolutly identical to the post I was going to make! Amazing that we're both new to encoding, just tried Nick's guide and had identical problems!

I think the problem is that for some reason NanDub deselects the NO Avi Output option after it is selected by myself. It doesn't finish the first pass encode as it runs out of disk space.

I may try the same guide with an earlier version of NanDub (the one Nick used). Atm I'm going to chill out for a bit. I'll post an update if I get round to trying again.

have you ever come across this mask within NANDUB?


there is NO SUCH THING as an divx4.x option!


NANDUB DOES NOT SUPPORT DIVX4 (and it doesnt have to since its sbc technique is more sophisticated anyway).

use any of the two codecs that ARE supported!

Uncas: We are both following Nick's guide. I'm only up to the bit where I select first pass. The guide does not refer to altering the feature you have outlined therefore we never bothered with it. Uncas are you reccommending we use the MS v2 option in future if we ever get past the 'Filling the HardDisk' bug?

p.s. I'm using the newest version of NanDub because I can't find v0.24 that Nick used for his guide.

Just thought I'd post an update. I've d/l NanDub 0.21 (The one Nick used in his guide). Same problem occurs =( Although this time the NO AVI option remains ticked even after I click abort on the First Pass encode.

Just to re-iterate: I'm aborting because the First Pass encode eats through my ENTIRE hard disk until an error comes up stating that no more room is available :/

Any NanDub users help me with this?

Pirchl: It turns out that NanDub uses DivX3 and as such MUST have the codec installed. I installed the 3.11 codec.

NANDUB DOES NOT SUPPORT DIVX4 (and it doesnt have to since its sbc technique is more sophisticated anyway).

Uncas: NanDub does NOT use its own codec as you have been telling us =/ Maybe you have gotten confused as to exactly what we have been saying (you do not speak English as a first language, but I thank you for at least replying and trying to help! =)

I'm moving to the doom9 DivX forums now as they seem to be much larger (I found many people who ran into the same problem as me there and found the solution!).

I DIDNT say NANDUB uses its own CODEC!!!

i said nandubs OWN sbc routine is better than the one divx4 uses!!

and i also said, there is no divx4 option

therefore you MUST use divx3 or ms v2 (which i prefer!)
