No sound when playing avi file

Well, I got a movie, on 1.6 gb that had dolby 5.1. Good I can use it with my soundcard, but hey I need some kind of codec.

I have tried many codecs now, including the ac3 codec, on my windows media player it doesnt play the thing at all, not the picture or the sound.

in the divx player it plays only the picture but not the sound, i just want to know what to do, i'm tired searching the internet for all kind of codecs and god knows what.

I have tried several codecx but Divx Pro 5.0.2 is the best .

You can use Divx player or PowerDvd to play back it .

I had that problem during 1 year too.But ý hav not found solution.I have never play avis with ac3 sound.I tried lots of codec but the result is 0..

Check the File Information using VirtualDub...
