Yes it includes everthing you need for installation follow this and you cant go wrong
I used it on kingkong worked great seen a big difference in the quality of picture, dont know if shrink would have produced the same results or not with preform deep analysis tict i beleive theres a thread on that some were DismanLast edited by mill; 11 Sep 2006, 01:12 AM.Keep Plugin away -
You need no filters. I'd start with HC Enc in best mode, as it is an excellent and free encoder.
Give it a try - no-one is gunna hold your hand step by step! Remember, you can't break anything.
And if you got a technical problem, jdobbs comes in quite regularly to help out.

I have never used filters and don't intend to. As long as the installer works ok. It is easy to use. When it was a beta at the start. It took me 2 days just to get it working as all the components had to be installed separately.
I just rip the DVD to the hard disk.
Load it into DVD-RB
Set a temporary and work folder.
Choose which encoder and what quality/passes I want.
Set full DVD, movie only etc
Choose what audio and subs to keep
If doing full DVD, I set extras to 50% quality
Make sure it is on one click and start
I used to use CCR but now use Procoder most of the time.
HCEnc is my favourite free encoder.
Only Full DVD is allowed in the free DVD-RB. Use Shrink prior to DVD-RB at no compression in reauthor to do a movie only backup.Comment

Disman I left everything as it was i didnt change any settings all i did was create a working folder and a output folder no problems the program did the rest your see the difference between encodeing and transcodeing, i think i have that right.Keep Plugin awayComment

And I predict that once you get used to it, you'll part with $30 for the pro version, which is simply amazing. The new beta viewer and % adjustment (by VCID!) is great.

Hi folks,
Blutach ... I tried DVD-RB free version ... just for 2 seconds then I uninstalled it ...
Q: If I am able to back up my dvd's using DVDD and DVDS ... what in the world I need DVD-RB? Am I missing something?
I read Cynthia's Guide on DVD-RB (as usual nothing less than FANTASTIC) ... but it left me more confused. OK, so I back-up my dvd with DVDD or DVDFab and then use DVDS ... then use DVD-RB to convert it again and then use Folde2ISO ... seems like just going around and around ...
Like I said I can't understand the Purpose or Usefulness of DVD-RB when I have the other tools!?!?!
Thanks!

@gonwk
Yes - you are missing the higher quality of a true encoder vs a transcoder.
Your other tools simply do not come anywhere near the quality of DVD Rebuilder.

for complex data reduction the quality of an encoder (which rebuilder is able to use) simply wins hands down
if you dont see differences with your conversions that's fine or if you dont want to have a conversion tool running for more than 30 min: fine
but many of us wouldnt want to do their conversions without powerful encoder like procoder2 (my favourite) or cce or hcenc or aqm ....
there are a few "comparisions" i have have posted throughout the rebuilder forum - take a look at them if you likeComment

If you have backups you like with Shrink then stick with it. DVD-RB with a Encoder will be better quality when using high compression (or reduction as it is called in DVD-RB). Anything done at 70% compression and up in Shrink can easily equal DVD-RB at the same percentage (especially when using Deep Analysis and AEC). DVD-RB will show it's usefulness at 50% and also if you have a really big TV.
I use DVD-RB when compression is Shrink tells me it is 60% and below. I use Procoder as I feel it is the best for quality and can handle low bitrates better than other encoders. I have a 80" screen which will show up artefacts very quickly.Last edited by nwg; 11 Sep 2006, 07:48 AM.Comment
