The point I'm making is that a supporting utility shouldn't require all those programs calling it to adapt when it changes. That's just not the way it's supposed to work. That would be like Microsoft changing the WINSCK interface at the API level and telling everybody in the world to change the way they use TCP/IP == oh and by the way all Web Browsers, FTP, TELNET, Downloading, and Communications software will stop working in the meantime. When that sort of change is necessary, they add the new functionality -- but they grandfather in the legacy interaces so prior applications continue to work.

I agree to what you are stating but we also have to submit to the fact that "change will be required". The way it was/is required from Windows 3.11 to Win XP to Vista now.

Some applications were/are not supported by the newer versions of the MS OS.

I'm not sure if I'm in the loop on this discurssion, please correct me if I'm off base. But, backwards compatability should be the name of the game, be it .7 vs. .6 or .6 vs. .5
After giving it second thought, I believe that I may have missed an option initially, to process menus along with the main title. I did not have "enable menu encoding" checked.(when I ran the DVDRB output through Recode2, it only compressed the menus, not the movie) Was this step done for me automaticaly in the pro version by checking movie and menus only? Possibly this was the cause of the oversize file?

Yes, I do like AD, and have stated that I used it when ripping this file. I have used DVDRB in the past for larger files ripped with AD, without the oversize problems. Are you implying that my problems stem from the use of AD?
If so please explain why. If not please leave space for someone who wants to help with the problem I have posted with.
