sounds like you have the wrong settings before you encoded. please post a screenshout of your settings in SUPER or list what you have selected in each.

LT., have you ever converted a full length(around 2hrs) DVD to avi(XviD) using SUPER ? If you have, then, how were the results? I have used it only for small clips for use with my cellphone.

And not full movies(in max. resolution) for PC or DVD players?

mplayer/mencoder/ffmpeg, which are the tools that SUPER uses, are more than capable of encoding to MPEG4. Whether the output is better/on par with other solutions depends on whether it uses up to date builds and which settings are made available.

i use TMPGEnc for that. i use SUPER for crap conversions, stuff that TMPGEnc won't accept. i have tried it though, avi's turned out with nice quality if your source is good and use the highest bitrate.

For me Super tend to be SLOW! And Wishy Washy ... sometime it works and sometimes it chokes. May be because I don't pick the right combintaions ... wish the Author of "SUPER" would put some pointers for "Dummies".

If I go on the SUPER forum(on the SUPER webpage) everyone seems to act like it runs on Vista. No matter what I do, it craps out with "try running ffdshow" dialog.

For my .avi=>dvd I'm using d2mp. Only problem with that is when doing
the audio if the running time is off by a couple of seconds ffmpeg kicks
out an error which hangs the batch until you press the Vista button to
kill ffmpeg. The resulting DVD comes out fine but you can't leave it run
unattended(unless maybe there's a tweak to stop the error reporting)

Anyway, SUPER is good on XP for oddball stuff that nothing else will convert... sometimes.

Wish I could try it out on Vista. Maybe I'll try FAVC. Supposedly it will
run 2 instances of QUENC if you have dual core processor.

No audio when coveting file to Wmv

                    Hi everyone.

                    I just joined the forum.

My problem is when I use super to convert a video file to wmv format
                    there is not sound.

                    My settings were.

output WMV. Video codex WMV 9 audio mp3

The box to disable audio to just do video was not checked.

Trying to convert a Divx file. Had this problem before with trying to convert a video file that was not divx.

                    Any ideas friends?

                      Hi folks,

@ Miles: Try "DVD Flick" for AVI to DVD conversion.
Also for "SUPER" uncheck the "Use DirectShow" ... it should work.

@ PShaw: before start ... locate and install program called "GSpot" ... handy little program to tell you your INFO on your DivX clip ..

then for WMV ... try ...

                      - VIDEO CODEC: MS-mpeg4-v2 with MP3
                      - for Video: No Change (or whatever you want) ... Aspect leave as is ... choose PAL (25) or NTSC (29.97) ... Bitrate (960, 1008 or 760 ... or whatever that is closest to your GSPOT Info)
                      - for Audio choose 48000, 2 channel, and your Bitrate ... I go with 96 or better 128 is the standard.

PShaw ... post back if this fixed your problem ..

                      G!

                        Thanks that fixed it.

That is the only problem I have had with Super.

It really is a good program. So good its hard to believe its Freeware.

I got a not DVD compliant error once burning a DVD.

The problem was for me not all the files needed to burn a DVD were there.
Check to make sure they are all there.

Compare the files you are trying to burn with the files on a already burned DVD to see if you have everything.

                            About Fddshow.

On my computer its codex was causing two of my video editing programs to crash when they open a video file.

I deleted Fddshow and it solved the problem. I never really used it any way. Only installed it for the codex.

Not saying to uninstall it just saw the post above that mentioned it so I thought I would add my experience with it.

Thanks for the suggestions. I dunno' what's goin' on with SUPER.
On my XP SP2 machine it works fine. On my Vista machine instead
of showing the size of the output file it says "decoding input file"
and a slash spins around as the green progress bar goes across.
Then after 20 minutes it just quits with an error. I'm using the
lastest build on both machines. I'm not using the Direct Show
                              option on either.
                              Something is strange.
