I have downloaded 1.6 and 2.0 trial versions and I am just trying learn the basics. I loaded a vr format disc from my dvd camcorder just fine, but how do you make each track listed in the program it's own seperate chapter so when I burn to dvd and watch on my dvd player and hit the next button on my player's remote or watching on pc it will go to the next chapter. When I record each segment on my camcorder in vr mode I want to treat each segment as a seperate chapter even if it is the same event, subject, etc.. Please explain how to seperate each file/track/segment recorded to be an individual chapter, and is TMPGEnc 1.6 or 2.0 the way to go if I just want to be able convert vr format recordings to standard dvd format to burn to full size dvd's and ceate a variety of menus for each disc but I am not really interested in performing any editing, just the above statement meets my needs. Please excuse me if these seem like silly questions but I am new to dvd authoring and desire to learn by asking questions as I go. I appreciate this forum and Thank you!
How do you seperate tracks so each is a new chapter?

well then 1.6 will be more than enough for you. to have seperate tracks on a compilation, after you "add file" let it load click ok. now on the left press "add new track" and do the next one and so on. this would be good for two seperate videos like 2 episodes of a sitcom or something like that."One day men will look back and say I gave birth to the 20th Century". Tried it and after I put the project on my hard drive to playback with media player or my other players, it does not treat each track as a new chapter to click next to go to. I have to fast forward through each track to get to the next, I just want to click to each seperate track as if it's the next chapter just like a movie dvd. Maybe I am doing something wrong or the trial version does not offer that function. The two video segments were pulled from the same minidvd camcorder in vr mode and recorded on different days and were the only video recorded on the disc. Please HelpComment

first, please download media player classic (free). use this to play back your output from TMPGEnc dvd author. you'll find a link at the top of this guide
Talk about the TMPGEnc line of software, including TMPGEnc Express, MPEG Editor and TMPGEnc DVD Author
now in that guide, scroll down to the section on dvd author. notice the part where i add my files, and on the left in BLUE it says "add new track" you have to click that after the first one was loaded THEN click "add file" again. there will now be two boxes on the left (one for each track). also be sure to use a menu! some dvd players will not enable you to navigate. pick a page which will show "track one" and "track two".
when you are sure you authored it right, play it back using media player classic using this method of opening the .IFO file in the video TS folder
when opened, you can press the skip/next button on the player to navigate between tracks just as it will when you burn it to dvd.Last edited by LT. Columbo; 18 Aug 2006, 04:51 AM."One day men will look back and say I gave birth to the 20th Century". Jack The Ripper - 1888

I believe I have figured this out via the clip editor and fast chaptering button, attaching the next desired scene at the correct time code. Then checking reviewing the final layout and playback with the simulation section and burning to the hard drive and reviewing with multiple players on my computer which play it as desired! Thank You for all your help LT. Columbo!Comment
