    not clear when panning/ movement

Cannot see the avi that I captured from my Sony dig camera created with Win MovieMaker and saved as AVI the frame rate under properties / summary.

Encoded with TMPGenc interlaced and authored with trail TMPG product

I have a fuzzy kind of edges, or line around people especially when moving or panning - like fine short stripes. when playing on the DVD home player.

    Should I use -
    Non -interlaced ??
    inverse telecine??

    Help please.

I never like to use Window Movie Maker to capture movie from digital camcorder to PC at all. Please download and use WinDV which is free and wonderful tool to do just that. For the guide how to encode to MPEG-2 with TMPGEnc Plus correctly, please check learn how to use LT. Colombo guide from the link below:

Thanks for that - I think the main problem is that I do not know whether the video is in Pal or NTSC - INterlaced or not and what the frame rate is in etc I gather that if I could be sure about that then I may be able to follow the tutorials better.

As it is even the very good Lt Columbo one is still a mystery to me

you can find out the framerate by capturing with winDV as ben suggested, (or DV capture live, which is more user friendly) and post file info with the method LT linked to

as for whether it's interlaced, very likely it is.

Thanks to all - and to LT for the best way to 'show' what I have. I tis case I'm pretty sure it will not help you/me. I intend to recapture the digital video using the winDV or DV Capture Live as suggested by the other forum helpers and then repost.

I was going to also shown a capture of a finished encoding and authroing on TMPGenc that still is not that clear and kind pf blurry at the edges of people especially when they are moving and /or panning. BUT IT WILL NOT WORK!

So I will go to plan a and recapture

for vdub's error messages, download & install a DV codec such as panasonic's or cedocida

I have recaptured the video using DV Capture Live and it captured it as Pal 720x 576 25 fps single DVAVI Type 2

I then tried rinning the VDub to get the information screen that LT asked for and got this error message:-

I will try and look for the codec download that anomyz suggests.

I do not know what the hell I'm doing !!!

before you proceed make sure you install the decoders suggested by anonymez.

DV content is bff, since you're encoding to mpeg2/dvd keep it interlaced; been a long time since i've used tmpgenc, but there should be a setting like "interlaced - bottom field first"

OK the latest- and still not a whole lot closer!!

I ahve encoded the captured camera file by using TMPGenc and below is the settings I used.

Then I wante to use TMPGEnc Author to create a DVD for the home player but canot due to this messge:-

I cannot use DVD Shrink as it cannot locate a file from the TMPGenc encoder etc etc

                          What to do now?

can you post a screen shot of the GOP tab and another of the 2nd screen of the wizard with your file loaded?
