    kilobits

You don't have to have the standard bitrates for audio and video for the VCD. I have a Philips 712 standalone DVD-player and it can read also other bitrates.

This can be interesting when you have a small movie (80' or something), so it can fit on one cd.

I have also found this to be true; I encoded a 1 and a half hour movie at 800kbps, and found it to work on both my PC DVD player and my home DVD Player. I'm wondering if the bitrate matters at all on any VCD or DVD Player's, after all - its just really a measure of the quality of the video and not the type which is what players will get fussy over.
