More questions, hope someone can help

Sorry I am a newbie so got lots of questions.

As a follow up to my previous question with file size...

Do I need a special burner, eg. the ones capable of over burning before I can use 870M disc? I've inserted a 870M disc to my Ricoh and no luck with burning a 86 minutes movie (eg. the movie is 881M).

Can anyone tell me about hardwares? Also do I really need to go to virtualdub, turn the captured mpg file to avi, only to return to Tmpgenc and turn it back to mpg again? It seems like double working and the file size doesn't fit on a 670M CD!

What's the best way to compress a captured MPG file and press the full length video to a VCD? Full length about 90 minutes...

    Thanks!!

you can split your MPG directly in tmpgenc. I don't know why you would go the AVI route anyway. This is under the MPEG Tools... section.

The reason I compress the file to AVI is because for some reasons if I split the captured file directly in Tmpgenc is the resulting file has no sound! Strange...
