How to convert DVD to MPEG-2 without re-encoding?

Hi,

Is it possible to rip straight to MPEG-2 or convert VOB files to MPEG-2 without re-encoding the files? I've got a robotech DVD in which all the episodes are seperate VOB files on the DVD, and I'd like to put them on seperate SVCDs without losing quality.

dvdx2.0 rips straight to mpeg1 or 2 but alas quality is lost when burnt to disc using nero and thats mpeg2 (svcd)

I believe dvd2svcd (not entirely sure though) may also afford you this capability.
