TMPEnc analyzin time

Dear All!


Is it possible to reduce (or probably skip) analyzing time when using TMPEnc to convert vobs to svcd comp. mpeg2?

It takes about 20-25 hours depending on size of dvd...
and You all know it's boring.

...terrible taking so much time from life...

loool... is pc the only thing in your life???

if your pc is encoding you can do something senceful... like eating... muahrharhharhhar......


i don´t know how you could reduce the time it takes without losing quallity..... encoding is slow

Of course I have! e.g.: my girlfriend's pc!

Thanx The Sorcerer, but it's not about the encoding,
but analyzing.

When I start ripping and encoding with dvd2svcd,
after ripping, tmpgenc starts an analyzing process
and that takes plenty of hours.
When finishing analyze, it starts encoding
but it is quite fast.

the first-pass is a progress in wich the file is scanned for fast scenes and in this scenes the bitrate is verry hight (so you don´t have pixel) and in slower scenes there is a lower bitrate (=> the file won´t get to big!)!

you can encode in cbr (constant bitrate) but then the qualli won´t be as good as now or you will need more cd´s....

So when I use cbr instead of vbr the whole process
takes almost half time, but the quality sux.

Ok. I think I'll choose quality instead of speed.

I gave up trying my first conversion about 10 minutes ago. Left it ripping last night, came back to find it wanted to start analysing and that it would take over 130 hours! My PC just isn't up to the job.

Could cbr be responsible for system lockups. I just don't know because my system is strong to me but still it freezes while I use TMPGEnc. I have never completed a full movie because of its constant freeze.

I'm using a Pentium 2, 450, 128MB, Win98 which is perfect for problems! But I'm now! Using TMPEnc and yes it takes about 14 hours for 90min DivX>SVCD but it does that while I'm at school(thinking about using the schools computers instead)

If you got the space, make a seperate partion on the harddrive where you run a seperate system. Got a 8gb harddrive which is divided into two. One with Linux wich I use. Then one with Win98 for exactly this and also for stupid (girl)friends.

There should be no problem even with old, slow computers! Mine does not even have peformance problems while encoding and does not freeze.
