    Improper VBR ???

    Hallo,

I try to convert a AVI Audio File into a wav / mpg
because I don't get a sound when I run TMEG

I been reading in the Forum (all over) and I found out that I will need VirtualDub

I downloaded the VirtualDub 1.4, klicked on VirtualDub.exe
    VirtualDub opend
Under File > open File ( I opend the orignal File)
    Under File > save wav

and here I get the first Warning / Info:

VitualDub has dedected an improper VBR audio encoding in the source AVI File and will write the audio header with standard CBR values during processing for better compatibillity. This may introduce up to 0 ms of skew from the vidio stream. If this unacceptable, decompress the *entire* audio stream to an uncompressed WAV File and recompress with a constant bitrate encoder. (bitrate.o*+- 0.0kbps )

When I press ok I am able to to "save wav"

Than I understood that i am supposte to change the ending .wav to .mpg
    what I did

But when I start TMPG it tells me illegal MPEG vidio stream

So i did something wrong, but cant figur out what.
i must say I am new working on AVI Files.............so please when you answer, please explain things in the simple way....thanks

After VirtualDub, I rename the file to mp3. Since it's VBR, it's best to uncompress it to WAV, which I use dbPowerAmp Music Converter. You can also use Winamp and save it to disk. Then you load Tmpenc and put the AVI in the video and the WAV in the audio and select your output file. At this point, I would just do a sample by clicking 'Setting' Advanced' Source Range and just do a minute of it some where in the middle of the clip. This is to test that the audio and video will be in synch. You can adjust this in Tmpenc as well - then I would encode the whole thing.

    Good luck,

    Synchron.

No. Let the .WAV audio file remain named with the .WAV extender.
Then simply load your original .AVI and then the .WAV audi file into TMPGEnc...
