I have converted a few avi movie files to mpeg1 files using TMPGenPlus and I am having problems with the video fading in & out with a pink tint...I am new to converting these type of files and have been going with the default settings...is there a fix for this problem??? Thanks

I'm not sure precisely what you are telling me...
I went to the Quantize Matrix tab in settings and the default is set at intrablock 8 and the non-intrablock is set at 16...is this correct???
also, the movie plays on my media player so i am assuming the codec is correct...Thanks againComment

Don't you think you should have mentioned this in your first post? If the problem exists in your downloaded .AVI file, it's OBVIOUSLY NOT a problem being created during the conversion process to VCD. Essentially, you "get what you pay for" when downloading someone else's creation - often times totally phony files or, as in this case, poorly generated files...Comment

The resolutions are divisible by 16...
The avi plays back in media player...wouldn't this mean that the codec is correct?? If this is not necessarily the correct codec for the avi movie and it still plays in media player...how would I determine which codec was used to create the avi file originally??ThanksComment
