    video fades to pink

I have converted a few avi movie files to mpeg1 files using TMPGenPlus and I am having problems with the video fading in & out with a pink tint...I am new to converting these type of files and have been going with the default settings...is there a fix for this problem??? Thanks

    1) Make certain that both horizontal and vertical resolutions are divisible by 16

    2) Make certain that you have installed on your system the SAME DivX codec that was used to create the original .AVI...

How do you find out which codec was used creating the file?

To determine which codec a media file was encoded with, examine "file information" in Virtualdub.

Thanx for your reply. Now I've got some more questions for you

          * What's the difference betweeen fast-motion and low motion Div-
          X MPEG-4?

          * How do you change the frame se so it's devisible by 16?

            setarip, thanks for the info...
I'm not sure precisely what you are telling me...
I went to the Quantize Matrix tab in settings and the default is set at intrablock 8 and the non-intrablock is set at 16...is this correct???
also, the movie plays on my media player so i am assuming the codec is correct...Thanks again

Under the "Video" and "Audio" tabs, you'll find settings for (Source) Aspect Ratio. These are the resolution settings to which I referred...

setarip, the aspect ratio is set at 4:3 525 line(NTSC) and the frame rate is set at 29.97/1=29.97 fps...is this correct or should i be using a differnt setting??? Thanks

My sincere apologies! The correct reference is "Size" (e.g. 352x288) under the "Video" tab and similar numbers under the "Advanced" tab for "Video Arrange Method" ("pixels").

                  So much for the quiet arrogance of commiting everything to memory ;>}

Don't you think you should have mentioned this in your first post? If the problem exists in your downloaded .AVI file, it's OBVIOUSLY NOT a problem being created during the conversion process to VCD. Essentially, you "get what you pay for" when downloading someone else's creation - often times totally phony files or, as in this case, poorly generated files...

The resolutions are divisible by 16...
The avi plays back in media player...wouldn't this mean that the codec is correct?? If this is not necessarily the correct codec for the avi movie and it still plays in media player...how would I determine which codec was used to create the avi file originally??Thanks
