video fades to pink

If the codec is not correct in the avi file...why is it that the second avi file I encoded inTMPGenPlus played fine in media player without fading in & out to pink but after encoding played back with the fading problem??? Wouldn't this point to a setting problem in TMPGen??? Thanks

Here is the fix...I found it at vcdhelp.com...it worked

change the codec reader settings in TMPGEnc under Option->Environmental settings->VFAPI plug-in and right click on the DirectShow Multimedia File Reader and increase the priority to 1 or 2 and try open the video.
