Why cant i do it?

I am trying in vain to make a vcd. I downloaded the video from a vhs video caamera through fly video and it is an avi file about 3.5 gigs.
Ifollowed the instructions to the letter on nickeys solution pages. and concerted it to mpeg1 about 300 meg. Then i used nero burning rom to burn it to cd. All went ok. I try to open it and it just wont open .
What is wrong? Is it not burning right?
Is it not converting to mpeg1 correctly?

Ensure in Nero that you are using the vcd template and not just trying to burn the file as a data file. I think it under the file menu you will find an entry to start the wizard. From this wizard, select create a vcd.
