VCD Stretching Help

I just created a VCD using the latest version of NERO with the built in encoder. When playing the file in my RCA DvD player it seems that the picture looks all stretched out. THe divx file i used was in Widescreen format. Is there any way to make a VCD widescreen, because when it stretches the picture out it makes the quality of video very bad? Everyone's stretched out length wise.
