    Low Audio Level on VCD's

    Hi All..

I have an Athlon 700 MHZ 512Meg Ram and Windows XP Pro..

    Software in Use..

    Smart Ripper 2.41
    Flask Mpeg
    TMPGEnc..

Allthough I am able to Make VCD's the Audio Level is Not Loud Enough..

Does anyone have any Ideas as to what I am doing Wrong..

I can see no Audio Volume Setting on Any of the above Named Channels..

Audio is Present but Volume needs to be tuned full up to be able to hear it..

    Regards..

    El..

If you are initially creating a .AVI file, you can load that into the most recent VirtualDub, change the "Video" setting to "Direct Stream Copying", change the "Audio" to "Full Processing" and under "Volume" move the slider as far to the right as you please.
Save the file with a new name.

If you are initially dealing with an MPEG file, you'll first have to use TMPGEnc to demultiplex and save the resultant video and audio files. Load the audio file into a program such as GoldWave or CoolEdit and increase the volume. Resave the audio file. Then, once again, run TMPGEnc and multiplex the files (Make certain to set the "window" at the top of the multiplex screen to "MPEG 1 _ Video CD".

before you encode..load your movie into tmpg load in your template..then click on settings..then advanced..click on audio effect..select a percentage thats higher than 100 and make sure the box next to audio effect is checked..then encode.

I must be getting old(er) - I can't believe that will all the work I've done with TMPGEnc, I've never noticed that last checkbox. It's probably psychological, since EVERYTHING else under that tab has to do with video...

you're funny..but the only drawback to using that function is that it only goes to a certain percentage.it wont go to 999% or anything...after using dvd2avi ..i usually take the audio and use cool edit(since its easy) and tweak the sound then put it in tmpg.

            Hmm Strange..

I cannot see the Volume Options..

I have the Origional Vob File..

And the Origional MPEG file as Converted by Flask MPEG..

Any Help with regards to a permanent fix would be great..

"As Anyone tried Raising the Volume of an MPEG file that weighs about 1Gig with Cool Edit..?"..

Take me all Bloody Week !!

            he he..

"I cannot see the Volume Options.."

If you are referring to TMPGEnc, you do understand that you have to run TMPGEnc and load your file. Then click on the "Setting" radio button. Then click on the "Advanced" tab. The last checkbox under the "Advanced" tab says "Audio Effect". Put a checkmark in that box and then doubleclick on the words "Audio Effect".

If you are referring to VirtualDub, make certain you have version 1.4D or more recent (The earlier versions do not have the Volume control).

                  Well..

                  Loaded the MPEG File..

                  Raised the Volume by 400%..

Took me about 4 hours and Guess what..!!!!

                  Now..

TMPGEnc will not Split the File !!

Either I get an Error Message or the Process starts then Stops early

                  i.e.

File To be split at 3456 Seconds..

                  TPMGenc Splits as 154 Seconds..

                  Figure that one out..

Did you successfully play your new (not yet split), undoubtedly earsplitting MPEG file before you tried to split it?

Perhaps increasing the volume to four times its original level is more than TMPGEnc (or human ears) can tolerate.

I'd suggest you retry the project with a mere doubling of the volume.

                      Nope Same Problem..

                      Reproduced here as :

At Address 74F91D04, Read error occured against Address 73F91D04

As TMPGEnc Increased the Audio and Gave me a NEW file I can't see the Reasons as to why IT should REJECT its's OWN WORK !!

                      Rob..

This Error Occurs when I go into MPEG Tools > Merge and CUT..

After the File has been Loaded and After the File has been EDITED to the Required Length..

                      That Error Message Pops UP..

                      Ideas Please..

                      Rob..

                          Sorry..

                          That was with 200% volume..

If all else fails could you recommend any Other Program that will do the Task..

                          Rob..

As I said to you several postings prior (since you indicated that you are using both Flask and TMPGenc):

"If you are initially creating a .AVI file, you can load that into the most recent VirtualDub, change the 'Video' setting to 'Direct Stream Copying', change the 'Audio' to 'Full Processing' and under 'Volume' move the slider as far to the right as you please.
Save the file with a new name."

                              OK JUst to clarify...

                              DVD was Ripped Using Smartripper...

VOB Files were converted to MPEG with FLASK..

But Audio was not of Sufficient Volume..

So Used TMPGEnc to Raise Volume to %400..

                              NOW..

TMPGEnc will not accept the File which has the raised Volume..

                              The Origional File is OK..

I can only assume that TMPGEnc has Modified the File somewhat to make it Invalid..

Tried to Re-Convert with a %200 Volume and Same Effect..

I am at a loss as to why this has happened..

Any ideas on how to cure this would be great..
